Description
Appearance:
Dracaena Lemon Lime features long, arching, lance-shaped leaves that are green with bright yellow or lime-green stripes. The coloration of the leaves gives it its distinctive and eye-catching appearance.
It can grow up to about 4-6 feet (1.2-1.8 meters) in height when grown indoors.
Light:
Dracaena Lemon Lime prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some shade but will thrive and maintain its vibrant colors with moderate to bright, indirect sunlight.
Avoid exposing the plant to direct sunlight, as this can lead to leaf scorching.
Watering:
Allow the top 1-2 inches (2.5-5 cm) of the soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly when you do water, but make sure the pot has good drainage to prevent overwatering.
Reduce watering during the winter when the plant’s growth slows down.
Temperature:
Maintain a room temperature between 65-80°F (18-27°C) for your Dracaena Lemon Lime.
Protect the plant from drafts and cold temperatures.
Humidity:
Dracaena Lemon Lime can tolerate average indoor humidity levels, but it may benefit from slightly higher humidity. You can increase humidity by misting the plant or using a humidity tray.
Soil:
Use a well-draining potting mix. A mix designed for houseplants or a combination of peat-based soil with perlite or sand works well.
Fertilization:
Feed your Dracaena Lemon Lime with a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer) every 4-6 weeks. Reduce or eliminate fertilization during the fall and winter when the plant’s growth slows down.
Repotting:
Repot your Dracaena Lemon Lime every 2-3 years or when it becomes root-bound. Choose a slightly larger pot with good drainage and refresh the soil.
Pruning:
Trim yellow or brown leaves to maintain the plant’s appearance and encourage new growth.
Toxicity:
Keep in mind that Dracaena Lemon Lime is toxic to pets if ingested. Take precautions if you have animals in your home and keep the plant out of their reach.
